Becky Rowlands

Hi, I'm Becky- a parent carer, SEN Consultant and director of SENse, dedicated to supporting families navigating the world of special educational needs.
As a parent carer myself, I understand the challenges that come with finding the right support for your child. My personal experiences of advocating for my son since 2017 inspired me to help other families feel informed, empowered and confident in their journey.
My training
I hold the following qualifications:
- Level 3 diploma in understanding Autism.
- A complete SEND diploma.
- Level 3 child psychology diploma.
- ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work.
- Child protection Inter-Agency level 3 safeguarding.
- Alongside this I have additional training in the EHCP process, SEN advocacy and am currently undertaking SEND Law (IPSEA) levels 1,2 & 3.
These qualifications, combined with years of experience, allow me to provide both practical guidance and compassionate support, ensuring every parent feels heard and every child has the chance to thrive.
Outside of work
When I'm not working, I'm usually outside with my son and our dog, enjoying nature and pretending I'm not tired!
We're big animal lovers so horse riding, zoo trips and stopping to admire every animal we see are all non-negotiable.
We also love cozy movie nights, spending quality time with family (especially my baby nephew who has completely stolen our hearts!) and any plan that involves fresh air, good company and snacks!
Life can be a little messy, full of laughter and smiles, best enjoyed with the people closest to me.
Laura Grace

Hello, I’m Laura Grace, a Special Educational Needs (SEN) consultant and Director of SENse Consultancy CIC, based in the Cheltenham area. My mission is simple but powerful — to empower families navigating the complex world of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) with knowledge, confidence, and compassion.
Through my work, I provide advocacy services, help families understand the laws and regulations surrounding SEND, and guide them in securing the right support for their children. I believe that when families are informed and supported, they can build stronger, more collaborative relationships with education professionals — and ultimately, create better outcomes for their children.
My role often involves helping families develop robust EHCPs, resolve conflicts, and appeal decisions through the First Tier Tribunal. Each case reminds me that behind every document and deadline, there’s a child — a person whose potential deserves to be recognised, nurtured, and celebrated.
This isn’t just professional for me — it’s deeply personal. I’m a proud mum to three wonderfully unique children, two of whom are now adults, all with their own distinct experiences of SEND. It’s through their journeys that I found my calling: turning my lived experiences into a voice for other families walking similar paths.
My background and training
I’ve dedicated years to learning, developing, and refining my practice through training such as:
- SEN Action - Parent SEN Advocacy Training
- Public Law, Disability Discrimination and Pre-Action Protocol Drafting
- Application of the Human Rights Act to SEND
- Student Member of the British Psychological Society
- Parent Carer Peer Support Training (Charlie Waller Trust)
- Level 4 Early Years Educator
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator – Early Years
- 1:1 Learning Support Worker and Personal Assistant for SEND children
- Founder of Gloucestershire Autism Support
- Former Benefits Advisor for the DWP
Each of these experiences has deepened my understanding of the barriers families face, the complex systems they navigate, and the resilience it takes to fight for what their children need.
My ultimate goal is to ensure every child receives the right support at the right level. I’m passionate about delivering real results for families and advocating for the most vulnerable children in society.
Outside of work
When I’m not supporting families, you’ll likely find me spending time with my children, walking our dogs, or laughing over a good board game or comedy show. I also enjoy tackling DIY projects — though I’ll admit, they sometimes turn into comedies of their own! At the heart of it all, I believe in living authentically and with humour — because laughter, empathy, and understanding go a long way in both family life and advocacy.
My favourite quote sums me up perfectly:
“I wish I could, but I don’t want to.”
For me, it’s a reminder to be honest with myself — to embrace boundaries, stay true to who I am, and always approach life with a wink and a smile.
Alice Gardner Cert HE (Open)

Hi, I'm Alice.
I am a parent carer to three beautiful children, all whom have SEND, a SEN Consultant, and director here at SENse.
Since having my children and recognising their complex needs, I have realised where I want to be in life, fighting for the rights of societies most vulnerable. Having battled through multiple systems for my children, education and health and social care, I want to make sure no other families experience the same battles we have. Additionally, as the owner of a progressive disability myself, I want to show that you can, (and should!) have a fulfilled life no matter what, and that starts with the right support at the right time.
My training
In the world of SEND there is always more learning to be done. Regulations change and new processes are implemented. There is always more knowledge to be gained. Along the way I have achieved the following qualifications and training.
- Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care
- Certificate of Higher Education in Law- Cert HE (LLB Honours pathway)
- SEN Action- SEN parent Advocacy training
- ITC Level 3 Award in First Aid Training at Work
- ITC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
- Safeguarding Children Level 1 & 2
Outside of Work
Outside of work you will find me mostly under a heated blanket! I am currently in the middle of completing my Law degree, which i am loving. I enjoy spending time with my family, and we have a lot of animals so I love to spend time doing what I can. We have our own flock of Easycare sheep who I love spending time with, and of course the best time of the year is lambing! I have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who I love to train. Recently life has thrown a few curveballs my way so I am still figuring it all out but am determined to still live life to the fullest. Our animals provide a much needed escape and I love that our children are growing up learning to care for them.
Life is short and it is for living!
I can't wait to continue working with our great team of ladies and seeing the change we can make with SENse
